The duties of Ms. Wheelchair Alaska include promoting awareness of the need to eliminate architectural and attitudinal barriers, informing the public of the achievements of people with disabilities across Alaska. During her year long reign, she will have the opportunity to travel throughout Alaska visiting advocacy groups, making public appearances and conducting radio, print, and TV interviews. The commitment and personal example of the titleholder serves to further the mission of Ms. Wheelchair Alaska.

Ms. Wheelchair Alaska needs to be a woman that uses a wheelchair for 100% of her community mobility. She must be at least 21 years of age, a resident of Alaska and an United States citizen.. She should be an advocate with good communication skills that can travel the state.
