GUMBO BOWL Adaptive Sports Exhibition

The Gumbo Bowl is a fundraiser benefitting SMCL Foundation & Associates and its year-round therapeutic recreation and adaptive sports programs serving youths, adults, seniors, disabled veterans, military service members, and individuals with physical, visual, and economic challenges throughout Greater New Orleans. Enjoy an unforgettable weekend of Wheelchair Football, Flag Football, a Louisiana Gumbo Cook-Off, live entertainment, local vendors, adaptive sports demonstrations, and family-friendly activities.

Misfit Maker Market at Tennessee School for the Deaf

Knoxville, TN

The Misfit Makers Market is designed to create a truly accessible event for disabled vendors and patrons alike, while fostering a networking environment for all of Knoxville’s disabled community members. We envision “special needs” to become necessary and normalized accommodations in event spaces. We hope that our market will inspire artists with disabilities and chronic illness to keep making and remind the disabled community that they’re seen, valued and considered.

This event will be completely indoors, so it will be accommodating for those with heat intolerance. We will be requiring masks of those who can wear them in order to protect those who are immunocompromised and/or cannot wear them. We plan to have student ASL interpreters from UT roaming about the event, available to interpret for vendors and patrons as needed. There will be ample accessible parking provided and the building will be ADA accessible as well.
