  2. Kat,
I couldn’t have asked to work with a better titleholder this year in my first year as the State Coordinator. Your energy, ambition, intelligence, and spunk lights up the room wherever you go. You truly are a rockstar; you have earned those diamonds on your crown! Good luck, and, most of all, have a great time in Maryland. I’ll be rooting for you all the way.
    Love,
    Amy

  4. Wanted to say congratulations for being Ms Wheelchair Tennessee. Look forward to seeing all of the wonderful ladies in Rockville! Even though we might be competing for the same title, it is not about the title but what we can do to promote our cause to all of the Nation! Good luck!

  6. Hi Kasondra- I just wanted to introduce myself since I won’t be able to meet you at the National Pageant. I am the state coordinator for Ms. Wheelchair Washington Pageant. I was Ms. WC Washington 2006 and I had a great year. I am sorry I won’t be there to meet all of you this year. Good luck in all you do and have a wonderful time at the Ms. Wheelchair America pageant. It was one of the best weeks of my life!

    Best of luck!

  7. If you get a chance here is Ms. Wheelchair Washingtons website: http://www.mswheelchairwashington.blogspot.com/

I always found it fun to get to know some of the other contestants before I went to the National pageant. I found that the pageant is more about winning. It is about learning from all of the other amazing women with various disabilities around America. The friendships I took away from that one week of the pageant will last a life time. It is a unique opportunity to meet so many women with disabilities at one time. Again- good luck to you!

  9. Kasondra,
My life has been blessed since the day you were born. From the days of Duncanwood and United Way campaignes to APSU and Zeta Nu you have always been an advocate. You were given a gift to be able to educate and inspire and I am so proud that you have chosen to use it proudly and loudly. Enjoy nationals for the chance to meet new people who are as passionate about advocation as your self. Know that you are for ever loved for who you were, who you are and who you continue to grow to be. Always - Mom

  16. Kat,

You are such an awesome young lady, I am and always have been so proud of you for everything you do. You are truly an inspiration to everyone, and you touch every life that you come into contact with. It fills me with pride to be able to say, “hey, that’s my Kat, the one over there; with the tierra on her head.” If we all had the drive and commitment that you have the world would truly be a better place to live in. I love you baby, and know that your Grand Dad is looking down here, and smiling from ear to ear cause he is sooo proud of you and what you have done with your life. Thanks for letting me share in the pieces of “your life story” which should be entitled How to Live Life To the Fullest Extent. Big hugs, and go get em at the nationals, I know you will do great! Love ya. Nae

  17. Kat,
Words all but fail me when it comes to trying to express how much you inspire all who come in contact with you. You could say “life’s not fair,” but instead you say “life is precious,” you could say “I can’t do it,” but instead you say “no problem,” you could say “I give up,” but instead you say “let’s go shopping and then we’ll figure it out.” ;)

Kat you are truly one of a kind and I can’t help but smile whenever your around. You have an infectious excitement for what most of us take for granted… life. I wish you nothing but good fortune and great success in everything you do.

    I love you!
    Jody

  20. My name is Angie Wilkerson: I was Ms. Wheelchair Virginia 2005-2006, second runner-up at Ms. Wheelchair America 2006 and also was awarded the People’s Choice Award. To all contestants, congratulations! As you get ready for MWA I know you are probably very excited and nervous at the same time. I wanted to share these pieces of wisdom based on my experiences and advice I received. You will be glad if you do all of your preparation before going to MWA (prepare & practice speeches, etc.), once you arrive pace yourself- don’t wear yourself out- get your rest and eat well- take care of yourself, enjoy every moment of the experience, take lots of pictures, try to meet and spend time with each contestant- you will be so inspired and enriched by doing so, you are all amazing and special…don’t compare yourself to anyone else- just be the best you that you can be, think of your fellow contestants not as competition but rather as members of a team with the same mission as you. May you all support, encourage, educate, and inspire one another. Have the time of your life and congratulations again to each of you on your achievements.
    God bless,
    Angie Wilkerson
