  4. Words can’t express how proud I am of you. You are my hero. I have never met anyone who has overcome any challenge that has come thier way like you, you don’t know the meaning of “give-up”. In the six years since we first met,you have shown me what a true work ethic really is, you have shown me what it means to take responsibility for one’s own actions, I know I am a better person just for knowning you.

Good Luck in the Pagent, all my love, your devoted husband and biggest fan.

  16. My name is Angie Wilkerson: I was Ms. Wheelchair Virginia 2005-2006, second runner-up at Ms. Wheelchair America 2006 and also was awarded the People’s Choice Award. To all contestants, congratulations! As you get ready for MWA I know you are probably very excited and nervous at the same time. I wanted to share these pieces of wisdom based on my experiences and advice I received. You will be glad if you do all of your preparation before going to MWA (prepare & practice speeches, etc.), once you arrive pace yourself- don’t wear yourself out- get your rest and eat well- take care of yourself, enjoy every moment of the experience, take lots of pictures, try to meet and spend time with each contestant- you will be so inspired and enriched by doing so, you are all amazing and special…don’t compare yourself to anyone else- just be the best you that you can be, think of your fellow contestants not as competition but rather as members of a team with the same mission as you. May you all support, encourage, educate, and inspire one another. Have the time of your life and congratulations again to each of you on your achievements.
    God bless,
    Angie Wilkerson

  18. Jaime,
Best of luck in these upcoming weeks. Thank You for all you did for me this summer when I need help dealing with a student in a wheelchair. I learned then 1) how much you care abut what you are doing to try to increase gradution rates and 2)what a difficult task you are trying to tackle. I know you make me proud to know you and you will make the whole state proud as well.

  25. Hello Jaime,

In five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes. How do you measure, a year in the life?
This exact question from one of my favorite songs from the musical RENT began running through my head from the moment I recieved the title of Ms. Wheelchair Tennessee. How would I measure this year? And now I know I am measuring it in every lesson taught and learned and every friendship made.

I am looking forward to a great week here at Nationals. Thank you for being a part of how I will measure this year.

  28. Jaime,

Since joining our family we have come to love and admire you. You have not let your disability stop your dreams or the reality of them. While continuing your education, teaching and being involved in the community, you found time to make our son’s dream come true by giving him two loving children. We pray for you the opportunity to advocate for the disabled across America and continue to bring awareness of the need for proper housing. Should you find a coin in your path you will know that Randall is sending best wishes and a prayer from heaven above. Continue to be who you are and the rest will fall into place. Good luck!

Love, Kaye, Kim, Kristi, Donnie and Grannie

  54. IT’S BEEN A FEW MONTHS SINCE THE “NATIONALS”. MOST OF US HAVE GONE BACK TO OUR “OTHER LIVES”. I AM BUSY WITH THE DC SCHOOL SYSTEM. VISITING INACCESSIBLE SCHOOLS (SOMETIMES GETTING CARRIED UP STAIRS TO PROVE A POINT). SOMETIMES TEARING DOWN INADEQUATE BATHROOM STALL DOORS WITH MY CHAIR (POOR CHAIR) OH WELL… KEEPING BUSY. HOPE ALL’S WELL WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. TAKE CARE. IT WAS AWESOME MEETING YOU IN JULY
